PUH Pride

Our care is for everyone.

At Portiuncula Hospital, our focus is simply on providing safe, high-quality clinical care to you and your baby. We know that families come in many different forms, and we want to assure you that whoever you are, and however you identify, you will find a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment here.

Whether you are attending our clinics as a couple, a single parent, or navigating your healthcare as a member of the LGBT+ community, our team is here to support you with the care and consideration you deserve.

What to expect during your time with us

Respect for your identity: Your name, your pronouns, and your sexual identity matter to us. We make sure these details are noted correctly in our handover records so that our midwives, nurses, and doctors understand your situation clearly from the start of your stay.

Individualised Care:Every pregnancy is different. Your doctor and midwifery team will sit down with you to plan your appointments and care based on your medical needs and personal circumstances. These conversations will happen at Antenatal Clinic Visits as well as any other encounters you might have with the doctors at Portiuncula.

Full support for your partner or chosen advocate: You choose who supports you. Whoever accompanies you to your scans, clinic visits, or during labour will be fully included in conversations, updates, and bedside care.

Clear, continuous communication: Clinical situations can sometimes change quickly during birth. Whether everything goes precisely to plan or an urgent clinical decision is required, our staff will talk to you and your partner openly, clearly, and immediately to ensure you understand your options.
